Canadian cellist Jennifer Moersch is a sought-after soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, collaborative artist and music educator. In the summer of 2017 she returned to her hometown of Vancouver after ten years of performing in Toronto and around Ontario. She has performed across North America, in the UK and is a Featured Artist with Via Rail travelling across Canada.
An avid chamber musician, Jennifer takes every opportunity to perform in this intimate setting. In September 2018 Jennifer premiered a beautiful new work for cello octet and dancers by the Canadian composer Elizabeth Knudson. Also, Jennifer performed in the Indian Summer Festival 2018 in newly commissioned works for chamber ensemble by Mohamed Assani (award winning sitar player and composer) and Elizabeth Knudson.
Jennifer performs solo concerts through MusicianFest of the Music Performance Trust Fund; A wonderful organization that brings professional performances to those who are unable able to get out to venues to hear live music.
Jennifer has performed with ensembles that include the Allegra Chamber Orchestra (one of the only all female chamber orchestras in the world), Vancouver Island Symphony, Prince George Symphony as Principal, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Kamloops Symphony, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Toronto Concert Orchestra, Niagara, Thunder Bay and Brantford Symphonies, Talisker Players, Jeans ‘n Classics and the Ontario Philharmonic amongst others. While freelancing in Vancouver Ms. Moersch was Principal and Soloist with the Prince George Symphony. During this time she also traveled around Central America and Asia with the Delphinus String Quartet.
Jennifer has had the pleasure of coaching by world-renowned musicians Tsyoshi Tsutsumi, Rostislav Dubinsky, Desmond Hoebig, Paul Katz, Paul Marleyn, Stephen Geber, Leonard Greenberg, Gwen Thompson, Gerald Stanick, David Harding, Aldo Parisot, Lafayette String Quartet, Penderecki String Quartet, Miami String Quartet and Quartetto Latino-Americano.
A fan of many musical styles Jennifer has combined her classical background in collaborations with artists of many genres. Some of these artists include members of The Guess Who, Platinum Blonde, The Tenors, Trans Siberian Orchestra and Down With Webster. From October 2017 to April 2018 Jennifer performed and toured with the highly acclaimed Arts Club Theatre production of Onegin (Winner of 10 Jessie Awards, 4 Sterling Awards and 4 SATawards). Musical theatre credits include work with Drayton Entertainment, Angelwalk Theatre, Sheridan Theatre and Toronto Fringe Festival. In addition she has performed in the Buddhist Opera The Ghata and in the new age film/opera Nowhere, Here Now.
Jennifer is the cello teacher for Colourstrings Conservatory of Music in Vancouver as well as Accent Music Studios in North Vancouver. In the past she has been the cello instructor for the Toronto Waldorf School, Kingsway Conservatory of Music , Nanaimo Conservatory of Music, Pacific Academy of Music and Teaching Assistant at the Vancouver Academy of Music. Jennifer maintains a private studio in her home. She and her cello can be seen in Tim Burton’s film Big Eyes, TV’s Arrow and Cedar Cove.
Jennifer is a member of the Canadian Federation of Musicians, Local 145.
